Student visa for Japan

Citizens of one of the over 50 countries, with which Japan has a visa exemption arrangement, can enter Japan without a visa for a maximum period of 90 days. However, all foreign students need a student visa in order to study in Japan. Working on a student visa is prohibited.
To obtain student visa to Japan, you must first obtain a Certificate of Eligibility. The Certificate of Eligibility is issued by the Ministry of Justice in Japan, and it will help you to process your visa in a shorter period of time. To obtain a Certificate of Eligibility, Otemon Gakuin University will contact the local immigration office and make an application on your behalf, but before that you should have supplied Otemon Gakuin University with all the required documents on the application. After Otemon Gakuin University finishes your Certificate of Eligibility, we will send the original certificate to you.
The Japanese student visa is a single-entry visa. Please note that you must enter Japan within 3 months from the issue date of the Certificate of Eligibility.
Required documents for a Japanese student visa:
- One visa application form, filled and signed
- Valid passport
- One passport sized photograph (taken within last 6 months)
- The original Certificate of Eligibility
- One photocopy of the Certificate of Eligibility
