We believe in the power of collaboration and frequently work together with our students. After all, our students are the ones having those life-changing experiences every single day. They know what it’s like to be an exchange student, be it in Bali, BangkokShanghai or Seoul – or in any of our destinations.

We want to give anyone dreaming of studying abroad in Asia a window to those experiences. That’s why we often ask our students if they are willing to write blog posts or send us their amazing photos and videos, or just take over our Snapchat for a week.

Sometimes we ask their help for collaborating on a project we’re working on, such as a video shoot. There are many talented young people studying at our partner universities in Asia every year. That they willingly offer us their skills and input is very valuable.

Our latest Warmadewa project would not have been possible to proceed without collaborating with our fine students.

Shooting a video about typical student day in Bali

Let’s take our latest project as an example. In 2016 we started partnering with Warmadewa University in Bali and launched the Warmadewa International Program (WIP). First Asia Exchange students attended this program from April to July 2017. Because it has been going well, we are now launching another program together with the university, the Warmadewa International Summer Exchange (WISE), which is a four week summer school program taking place for the first time in August 2018.

The Warmadewa International Program is still relatively new. Because our first study abroad program in Bali, the Bali International Program on Asian Studies (BIPAS) has been so popular, we of course wanted as many people as possible know about the WIP program as well. We asked our students their opinion. When they were first considering about studying in Bali in the WIP program, what would they have appreciated to see? What they came up most with was ”a typical day as an exchange student in Bali”. And that’s what we decided to do.

Life of an exchange student in Bali is a combination of studying, adventures and exploring the beautiful hindu culture and its traditions.

Behind every film production there is a talented team working. In collaboration with the Balinese film crew @enjoytheday_ and our fine students, we ended up filming two days and going to five different film spots around Bali to realize this video.

We took our Warmadewa students to 5 different film spots and we filmed for 2 days.

After two successful days of filming, the end result wouldn’t have been achievable without our talented students. Without their fine acting skills, enthusiasm and ideas how to shoot different scenes, the video wouldn’t have been possible to make.

Watch the end result below:

Want to collaborate with us, do cool things and boost your CV?

If you’re currently participating in one of our programs or are planning to, we’d like to invite you to share your study abroad experience in any way you can. It can be writing a blog, taking photos or shooting videos. And when the opportunity arises and you feel like it, you also have the chance to collaborate in bigger projects such as the above.

”What’s in it for me?”, you might ask. These are some of the ways you can benefit from collaborating with us:

  • Gain practical experience and hone your skills in writing, photography, filming and marketing
  • If you’re planning to become a professional in any of the above, you’ll have something to add to your portfolio
  • When working with us on different projects, you have the chance to gain exposure to professional industries and expand your network. The above video was made with the help of the Balinese film crew @enjoytheday, and the students got to meet these guys during the filming process.
  • We’ll write you a personal recommendation letter, which is also a nice addition to your CV.
  • If the collaborations turn out to be successful, you will get rewarded in other ways too!

Here are some examples of student collaborations:

Robin Valk, filmmaker & student in Shanghai. Robin made this awesome promotion video for us.

Lotta Tamminen, photographer & student in Bali. Lotta has been sending us photos on a regular basis.

Silke Floren, photographer & student in Bali. Silke has also regularly been sending us photos.

Levke and Facundo, blog writers & students in Bali. This couple is writing about their adventures on the Island of Gods.

Antonia, blog writer & student in Seoul Korea. She is writing about her experience in Korea.
