For whom is the MBA program intended?

Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree is an internationally recognized Master’s degree that is often considered the entry ticket to a successful management career. The MBA is essentially a general qualification designed to widen the horizons of business professionals and provide credentials for executive positions.  It takes into account all the major functions and practices of a business. An MBA is a postgraduate degree.

Students of MBA programs study the theory and application of business and management principles. The studies equip students with knowledge that can be applied to a variety of real world business situations.

The main reason to attend an MBA program is to increase your salary potential and advance your career. The MBA curriculum at Siam University is approved by the Ministry of Education in Thailand and revised regularly to reflect the changing global environment.

IMBA degree course outline

IMBA degree at Siam University consists of:

  • 9 core courses (obligatory for all the IMBA students)
  • 4 elective courses
  • 1 business project (thesis / independent study)

Nine core courses are obligatory for all degree students. Students can select up to 5 courses per semester.

The core courses are offered in a cycle according to the following plan:

503-110 : Human Resources Management
500-110 : Managerial Economics
506-222 : International Business Management

Semester 2 (December – April)
504-110 : Financial Management
508-220 : Logistics and Supply Chain Management
501-110 : Managerial Accounting
507-110 : Organization Behavior and Corporate Governance
700-201 : English For Graduate Studies

Semester 3 (April – August)
502-110 : Marketing Management
507-112 : Strategic Management
700-111 : Research Methods for Social Sciences
506-110 : Economic Integration and ASEAN Studies

Specializations and elective courses

Siam University offers 8 areas of specialization (Groups):

  • ASEAN Studies Management

Students need to choose four courses from one group. The course schedule for elective courses is built according to students’ wishes.

Exchange students participating in one or two semesters can freely select from courses on offer.

Siam University in Bangkok Thailand

Siam University is one of Thailand’s oldest, largest and most cosmopolitan universities. The university was founded in 1965 and it is Thailand’s fifth largest private university.

Siam University is a popular location among international students and it has several exchange agreements with universities around the world. The university has a student body of about 15,000 students studying in ten different faculties.

Cost of the MBA program

Students accomplishing the whole MBA degree

Siam University’s IMBA costs approximately 5500 USD (5000 EUR, 2/2016), depending on your course choices. The tuition for one semester is approximately 1830 USD. When choosing to do the whole IMBA degree, the tuition fees for the first two semesters will be paid to Asia Exchange all at once and the remaining semester(s) directly to the university. Following this procedure it is possible to get a 118 USD (100 EUR) discount on the total tuition fee.

The cost of the Siam University’s MBA program is very reasonable compared to many other MBA degrees in the world. For example, in Nordic universities an MBA degree costs approximately 20 000 EUR or more.

Students participating for one to two semesters

If you wish to study only one or two semesters in the IMBA program as an exchange student (i.e. not accomplish the whole MBA degree), the tuition fee per semester is 1640 EUR.
The application fee is 75 EUR.

If you take part in two semesters, you will get a discount of 100 EUR from the second semester. The tuition fee will be paid directly to Asia Exchange. Asia Exchange will send the students the invoice for the tuition fee at least 45 days prior to the start of the study program.

Unlike other free movers, non-native English speakers going abroad via Asia Exchange are not required to take a TOEFL English language proficiency test which costs approximately 185 USD.

Applying for the MBA program in Siam University

Applying is easy and you’ll receive an initial acceptance letter within a week of sending in your application. You can start to make travel arrangements immediately after receiving the letter.
