How to apply?

It's very easy to apply for AE's study abroad programs. You just need to fill the application form online and send the required attachments. You can find the application forms on the program specific pages under study abroad programs

You will receive an initial acceptance letter from AE within a week of sending in your application. This acceptance letter confirms your placement in the study abroad program. If you are not able to attend the study abroad semester, you can cancel your participation by emailing us even just a month before the start of the program.

After receiving the initial acceptance letter you can make a study plan and present it to your home institution (if you are currently enrolled in an institute of higher education) and apply for scholarships. Your home institution makes decisions about transferring credits and granting scholarships.

AE will send your host university's official acceptance letter at least one month before the start of the study abroad program. You will need this letter in order to apply for a visa. It normally takes a few days to apply for a student visa. More information on visas is available here

We recommend you to book your flights well before the start of the study abroad program. Click here for more information on traveling.

After the application period has ended AE will send all successful applicants the Asia Exchange guide with vital information on practical matters concerning the upcoming study abroad semester. There will be an orientation held at the selected study abroad destination. Of course we encourage students also to participate in their home institution's orientation for outgoing students and prepare themselves in all possible ways already in their home country.

Please provide us with an address that will be valid when we send you the final acceptance letter of the host university before the semester and the trancript of records after the study abroad program. If you don't won't have a permanent address for that whole time you can give us e.g. your parents' address. Please make sure your local postal service also know where the mail should be sent to.

AE students are terminologically freemovers. Freemovers don't study abroad through their own home institution's ageements but they organize their study abroad placement in some other way. Traditionally freemovers have to find out information, go through the application procedure and handle the practical matters on their own. AE's study programs have very standardized procedures so it's very pleasant for students to apply. We encourage freemovers to apply for scholarships from their own institution and other sources.

Even though you study abroad as a freemover you should find out which information you need to give to your home institution's international office. You might have to sign up as an exchange student for that particular semester - meaning you won't study at your home institution at the same time.
