Spring study abroad programs started in Bangkok and Bali

This spring’s study abroad semesters at Asia Exchange’s partner universities in Bangkok (Kasetsart University) and Bali (Udayana University) began in the middle of January.

The study abroad semesters started off with an orientation week where students could get to know their host university and their fellow students. In Bali, the students also had a memorable and emotional visit to Seeds of Hope Children’s Home. Asia Exchange supports Seeds of Hope and gives annual charity donations to them. Students are also eager to help out while in Bali. Studying abroad is truly meaningful travel!

Exchange students at Kasetsart University in Bangkok organized a trip to the Thai islands at the end of the orientation week. Meanwhile in Bali the international group of Asia Exchange students got to know each other in a laidback atmosphere at the Ice Breaking Party.

Would you like to study abroad in Asia as well? Apply now for the 2012 summer and fall semesters!

Autumn's study program in Bali ended with certification ceremony

This Autumn's Bali International Program on Asian Studies at Udayana University ended with a festive certificate ceremony. Students dressed up to traditional Balinese costums and received their certificates from university's directors. Students also had a chance to hit the floor with tradiotional Balinese dance shows!

Two students, Juuso from Finland and Constantin from Germany, were rewarded with Asia Exchange Role Model Scholarships of academic achievements and for showing good attitude and interest towards local culture.

Asia Exchange thanks all the 101 BIPAS students of the great semester in Bali and welcomes the new students to the becoming 2012 study programs!

Autumn semester started in Bali

The autumn semester in Bali started with a festive ceremony. After that the students received lots of information from Udayana University, Asia Exchange representatives and embassies. A biannual charity visit to Seeds of Hope children’s home also took place.

The orientation week ended on a high note at the Ice Breaking Party at Beach Lounge.

Flooding situation in Bangkok improving

South East Asia is a sensitive region for natural hazards. During the past month Thailand has suffered from severe flooding but now the situation is slowly getting better in certain areas.

Asia Exchange represents two universities in Bangkok. We are happy to announce that the semester started at Siam University on November 21st. The fall semester at Kasetsart University will start on December 19th according to the latest news.

The past events shouldn’t have any effect on the semesters starting in 2012. New exchange students can plan their upcoming semesters as usual but we encourage students to follow local media, e.g. Bangkok Post, and their own country’s Thai embassy’s website.

Our hearts and thoughts are with everyone whose lives were and are affected by the flooding in Thailand and neighboring countries.

Asian economies growing rapidly

Asian Development Bank (ADB) released a report in August on the current economic changes that Asia is going through. It confirms that there's no doubt Asian economies are growing rapidly but leaders face a lot of challenges tackling the ongoing changes.

An additional 3 billion Asians could enjoy living standards similar to those in Europe today, and the region could account for over half of global output by the middle of this century, says the ADB report.

Knowledge on Asia is needed now more than ever. Asia Exchange helps to educate Asia leaders of tomorrow! Read more about the report here.
